The Magickal Mysterious Character Series

When my granddaughter, Chloe, became interested in my spiritual path, I had the idea to write a short story to describe the time when I had asked the elders for my own medicine name, Playful Autumn Wind. As I wrote the story, I realized that I needed to continue on with Sam's life. Even though I teach classes on native spirituality to adults, facilitate ceremony for them, and have done numerous rites of passage, I had never presented the material in the format that might inspire teens and young women. When a friend, Billie Humphrey, talked of writing a book about little people, I knew they needed to play a role in Sam's journey.
The first book in the series, Discovering the Magickal Mysterious Character, is written for seventh to eighth graders who are dealing with changing bodies and other issues normal to life during those years. The rest of the series will be written more at an adult level and parents may want to read each book before giving it to their teenagers to read. I feel the wisdom of these books is valuable for all ages, but some events in the last two of the series might not be appropriate for young teens. Women of all ages, will want to start with book one. Becoming the Magickal Mysterious Character
Becoming the Magickal Mysterious Character continues Samantha Wind Dancer’s saga. The first book Discovering the Magickal Mysterious Character begins with Sam at the age of 12 and ends with her Becoming Woman rite of passage at age 13. This book tracks the next fourteen years of her life ending at age 27, as she begins a Major Chaotic Journey and moves into the Big West Moon of the Four Moon Cycles. Understanding more fully the wisdom of Grandmother, she embraces the matriarchal teachings of sisterhood, becomes engaged, married, and has a little boy, Sage McLaughlin Gaagii Begaye. When one of her friends discovers she is gay she is able to help her make sense of her life, and she finds the wisdom to help others heal the wounds of divorce, rape, and death of family members. Normal events in anyone’s life are seen through the eyes of a young woman who learns to take her own power and step into the circle of her own essence through Native American ritual and ceremony.

Living the Magickal Mysterious Character
Living the Magickal Mysterious Character journeys with Sam through twenty-seven years of her life to the age of 54, from Wind Dancer to Wisdom Keeper. During these years Samantha begins living her Sacred Dream. Having learned the lessons that she agreed to learn in this lifetime, she expands her truth to discover the legacy that she has promised to leave to the next seven generations. She begins the crusade for justice for the people that have adopted her into their lives and to help them understand the beauty of the teachings that they have forgotten. Sun Dances and other Native American ceremonies take her deeper into the Gateway Process of the people of the Red Road.

Legacy of the Magickal Mysterious Character
Legacy of the Magickal Mysterious Character is the last in the series. Samantha Wisdom Keeper travels her Path of Heart to balance the chaos in her life as she searches to find her own apprentice; the one that has vowed in a previous lifetime to protect and share the sacred teachings. Only this will ensure that all women will have access to this sacred knowledge for always.
